Hannah from Oxford Cupcakes was chosen to be a guest judge in the Wiley-Blackwell ‘Bake Off’ event! The Jubilee themed tea party and bake off was held for the staff at the offices of Wiley-Blackwell today.
The bake off was made up of 3 categories, with prizes for the winners of each category. There were big cakes, cupcakes and of course, the classic bake. Along with 2 other judges, we tasted the bakes, and judged them on appearance, taste and originality. There were some fantastic bakes, and we were really impressed.
The winner of the ‘Big Cake’ category was a very interesting Vinegar Cake! None of us had come across this flavour cake before but it was absolutely delicious and a very worthy winner!
The winner of the cupcake category was some gorgeous Rhubarb and Custard Cupcakes, with some ice-cream cone cupcakes coming a close second.
The ‘Classic Bake’ had some delicious bakes in, but our favourite was the homemade custard creams. Again, we had never had these biscuits homemade before and they were wonderful! There were also some lovely brownies in this category. Mmm mmmm!
Thank you to Wiley-Blackwell for inviting us to be a judge, we had a lovely afternoon with some delicious cakes!
